Oceanfront Residence Club Update

Here is a message from your concierge, Karen Britton. I hope all is having a wonderful winter and looking forward to returning to Daufuskie Island!

Hello All!

I am very excited to tell you that last week we had a very positive meeting with Hilton Head Rentals and Golf, Daufuskie business owners and artisans, water sports companies and local publications. Why is this exciting? First, we always welcome greater communication between all that are and or may be a part of your visit. Second, this would mean a greater range of activities for you to choose from! Thirdly, the optimism and positive energy in the room was contagious! Which is exactly what our beautiful island needed. We will also start including resort and island guests in our activity, something that I look forward to since it brings the vacationing community together! Our street legal carts are starting to come in, allowing you unlimited access, on your own time, to Daufuskie Island. We will use these carts (along with bikes) for artisan tours, lunches with Ms. Ernestine and any other adventures that we can think of! Speaking of bikes, more good news that we got from the meeting, the new company taking over the cart and bike rental operations will have kids’ bikes, kids’ seats, carts and strollers available for rent.

Pretty exciting news! I hope that you have a wonderful week and I can’t wait to see you back on Daufuskie!

And, as always, please feel free to contact me should you have any feedback or fresh ideas!

A Quiet Time On Daufuskie Island

The cool breezes off the Atlantic Ocean bring smaller crowds to Daufuskie Island and the Oceanfront Residence Club this time of year. This is a perfect time to for IMI to perform routine maintenance on the villas and cottages and get them in top condition for the upcoming season. Karen is working hard to and planning events for all the owners to enjoy their visits down here. Please feel free to send any suggestions and let me know if you have any questions. I will be happy to answer anything you may have. Have a wonderful weekend!

New Oceanfront Residence Club Cottage Under Construction and Pictures From The New Years Eve Party

Thanks to all that responded to my first blog! I hope it is informative and it brings you back each week to stay updated on what is happening on Daufuskie Island. This week I want to let you know about the progress we are making on the newest cottage in the Oceanfront Residence Club and even included a few photos. The planning phase is over and renovation has begun. The existing cottage has been gutted and the additions are under way. Here are a few pictures of the progress. Stop by and take a look the next time you're down on the island!

From Your Concierge, Karen Britton:

Hello Everyone!

Thank you for all of your wonderful feedback about activities this summer! Some of the highlights were Beach Relays, Hula Contests, Bocce Beer and Brats, Poker, Bingo, movies by the pool and mini OFRC golf tournaments. It all sounds great, keep it coming!

I’ve included some more pictures from New Years and throughout 2008. It’s wonderful to see all of you enjoying this beautiful island! If you have any pictures from Daufuskie that you would like to share with everyone here, please feel free to forward them to me. We would all love to see them! I hope that you’ve had a great 2009 so far and we look forward to a fun and memorable year on Daufuskie with all of you! What's Happening on Dafuskie island

Happy New Years from all of us at The Oceanfront Residence Club and Daufuskie Island Resort Realty! We hope that you had a wonderful Holiday Season!

It has been a busy time on Daufuskie Island and it extremely important to us that you know what is taking place while you've been away. Our Winter Newsletter
is being mailed today and will come out every four months. If you would like a sneak peak, you can follow this link: Newsletter. We are also starting this weekly blog in order to get you information more quickly and provide a forum where your questions can be answered.

New Businesses Work To Improve Daufuskie Island Resort

There is a great deal of activity happening behind the scenes around the resort this winter. Well established companies with a background in resort operations are beginning to handle the various entities of Daufuskie Island Resort. A few examples of this are Daufuskie Island Ferry Company taking over ferry service, IMI handling the management of Oceanfront Residence Club properties, and Hilton Head Rentals and Golf in charge of cottage, home, and villa rentals.

What The Oceanfront Residence Club Concierge, Karen Britton Has Been Up To...

The past couple of weeks over the holiday season have been a busy and very fun time for the Residence Club and Daufuskie! I had the chance to sit with Pam Lahn and sketch the beautiful trees behind the Inn, she is quite talented! Once the galleries re-open the spring, we will incorporate a tour of the art galleries, followed by a little wine and sketching of some of the beautiful sights around the island.

The week of New Years was and always is a particularly busy week for us. We kicked off the week with croquet and Chardonnay (with a little bocce ball too!) Tuesday I held a kid’s afternoon at the Equestrian Center. We had a great time playing games, Frisbee, making our own sandwiches and even pony rides! Wednesday our New Year’s Eve party was a blast! It was a great time, as usual, to get with the owner’s for a relaxing and fun night. We had a great babysitter for all of the kids, so it was really a pleasure getting to see the parents out and enjoying themselves, and even more of a pleasure to have the opportunity to ring in the New Year with them! Thanks to everyone, particularly the Mercer’s, for all of your help with setting up, I really do appreciate it! Thursday we welcomed a few more owners in town and Friday we held our first Amazing Race on Daufuskie Island. The participants had to perform challenges ranging from getting their picture taken with Mike the Mule, to finding cart keys in a bucket of balls. There was even a hidden Santa on the island for a bonus prize! I am proud to say that Jack and Kelley Stack were the “first team to arrive” and will forever hold the title as the Winners of the inaugural Amazing Race on Daufuskie.

Sounds like we’re having fun, doesn’t it? We are! I am, of course, still always available for any questions, concerns, reservations or special arrangements you may need. Please keep in touch with me about any ideas for activities that you may have. I’m open to anything, and want to make sure that your time on Daufuskie as everything that you want it to be! Happy New Year and we will see you on Daufuskie!
